When processing media requests for patient updates, we do so with regard for a patient’s right to confidentiality as guaranteed by federal HIPAA law. Our public information team will release patient information to the extent that federal and state laws permit.
We will only release information about a patient’s condition if your inquiry request specifically contains the patient’s name.
A patient or Valleywise employee’s willingness to participate in media coverage is the deciding factor in this policy. A patient, employee or the person authorized to give consent can opt out of providing any information.
