During a cystoscopy, the physician inserts a thin, flexible tube with a camera and light on the end of it through the urethra (the tube urine passes through) and into the bladder to check for abnormalities.
If a prostate exam or a test of PSA levels raises suspicion about prostate cancer, the physician will biopsy the prostate gland with a needle to remove small tissue samples for testing and examination at a lab.
The male prostate gland encircles the urethra (the tube that carries urine). When an enlarged prostate makes urination difficult or painful, one solution is to trim excess prostate tissue (resection) to increase the flow of urine. In the case of cancer, removal of the entire prostate gland may be the best course of action.
Kidney stones are hard deposits made of minerals and salts that form inside the kidneys. They can cause considerable pain and lead to infection. In this non-invasive surgical procedure, our staff targets the kidney stone with direct shockwaves from outside the body to break it into small pieces that the patient can then pass during urination.
Sometimes it may be necessary for a surgeon to remove part of a kidney or the entire kidney due to disease or damage.
When a patient is unable to control urination (incontinence), a urologist will perform a study in our clinic to see how efficiently the bladder works. The test measures nerve and muscle functions, pressure around the bladder, and urine flow rate, among other things.

Treating the urological problems of newborns, infants, children and teenagers, (always making sure to take into consideration their developmental needs)
