Amber Hayes, MSN, AG-ACNP-BC
Amber Hayes received her first degree in nursing with an Associate of Science in 2001 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She then began her nursing career at a Medical ICU just outside of Pittsburgh. Then moving to Arizona in 2003, where she worked at several local phoenix hospitals as a travel RN, including Maricopa Integrated Health Care System (MIHS), now Valleywise Health. In 2007, she was provided the opportunity to become an Assistant Nurse Manager at the Arizona Burn Center. Being part of a military family at that time, with frequent moves and adapting to change – she maintained a positive caring attitude and strived to provide excellent patient care. During the 19 years she worked as a registered nurse she had the opportunity to work in the Emergency Department, Medical ICU, Surgical ICU, Cardiac ICU, Burn ICU, APCU, Rapid Response Team Member, an Organ Recovery Coordinator in Dallas, Texas and held two different Assistant Nurse Management positions. She also held a part time position as an adjunct clinical instructor at Brookline College, teaching nursing students’ hands-on skills during their clinical rotations – empowering them to succeed. In 2018, she completed her higher education at Grand Canyon University and obtained a Master of Science in Nursing, becoming an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. On a personal note, during her nursing career, she was humbled to be nominated for the Nightingale Nurse of The Year Award. In 2009, she was privileged to be part of the Africa Burn Relief Foundation where she traveled with other volunteers to Malawi, Africa to aid in assistance for Burn victims in a small village as a burn nurse. In 2010, she traveled to Port-au-Prince, Haiti with The University of Miami and Project Medishare organization as a volunteer to provide medical aid to locals after their devastating earthquake. With over 2 decades of multifaceted experience in other states across the country and experiencing third world healthcare, she was given a deeper understanding of our patient population here at Valleywise Health, the inner workings of many different healthcare systems, and the importance of fostering positive relationships to achieve both optimal patient outcomes and a healthy work-life balance. It was during that time that she honed her skills and has embraced her current role as a Trauma Nurse Practitioner. Amber is a dedicated healthcare professional with a passion for providing high-quality patient care. Her journey has been defined by continuous learning and improving patient outcomes, with a commitment to excellence in healthcare that extends beyond the clinical role. She would continue to support the hospital in its goals of improved outcomes and advocate for APPs while sitting as a member of the Medical Executive Committee.
