Maria Merrick, DO

Maria Merrick, DO, is board certified in internal medicine and infectious disease. She attended medical school at Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia (VCOM).  After completing her internal medicine residency, she subspecialized in infectious disease at the University of Illinois Chicago.

She gained extensive training and exposure in urban medicine while in Chicago at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, which inspired her to join Erie Family Health Centers, a Federally Qualified Health Center and Ryan White-affiliated clinic primarily serving Spanish speaking patients. At both facilities, Dr. Merrick provided primary care and treated patients with HIV and chronic hepatitis C.

Dr. Merrick currently provides primary care and management with the following:

• HIV and HIV co-infections
• Multidrug resistant infections
• Hepatitis C virus infection
• PrEP and PEP treatment
• Monkeypox

Dr. Merrick also provides inpatient coverage for infectious disease and supervises fellows training in infectious disease.
