Burn research is key to understanding the unique needs of burn patients and improving their care.

Our researchers work with physicians, patients and their families to find better ways of doing things, including new medications, treatments and techniques.

Our hospital Investigational Review Board, made up of physicians, scientists, pharmacists, nurses and laypersons, oversees and approves all the research done in the Arizona Burn Center. They review all studies conducted within the hospital to ensure the safety of the patients involved.

Burn care goes beyond physical treatment, so we are actively involved in research that helps the patient and their family overcome the psychological trauma of the burn injury and better deal with the physical pain and long-term effects.

In order for our research to have a powerful impact, we share it at conferences and professional meetings nationally and around the world and publish many of our findings in respected medical and scientific journals. No matter what, we always maintain strict patient confidentiality.
