Andrew Rivara, MD

Andrew Rivara, MD, received his Bachelor of Science in Biology, Magna Cum Laude, from The George Washington University, Washington, DC. He earned his Medical Doctorate at Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, NY. He completed his fellowship at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and his residency at Duke University Hospital.

Dr. Rivara specializes in complex women’s health concerns focusing on both the medical and surgical management of:

• Abnormal Uterine Bleeding
• Uterine Fibroids
• Ovarian Cysts
• Pelvic Pain
• Abnormal Periods
• Painful Intercourse

He uses hormonal and non-hormonal medical options to address these concerns as well as appropriate surgical options. He strives to be a source of knowledge and advocate to empower patients while providing a safe environment for women to voice their concerns, support their life choices, and facilitate their family planning.

Dr. Rivara is part of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American Medical Association, was a clinical associate at Duke Health in Gynecologic Surgery, and has been recognized for excellence in teaching, caregiving, robotic and minimally invasive surgeries. His work has been published and presented around the country.
