Dirk Gesink, MD: Orthopedic | Valleywise Health

Dirk Gesink, MD, received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Michigan State University and medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, TX. He completed his orthopedic residency at the University of California San Diego. He also completed fellowships in orthopedic trauma at the University of Louisville and foot and ankle surgery at the Grand Rapids Foot and Ankle Fellowship Program.

Dr. Gesink has been practicing in Phoenix since 1998 starting an orthopedic trauma practice and eventually developed a concurrent subspecialty practice in foot and ankle surgery. He has also served as a surgical consultant for an advanced wound healing and hyperbaric medicine center.

Dr. Gesink is board certified in orthopedic surgery, a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and a member of the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society. His clinical care interests include:

Diabetic foot care
Limb salvage surgery
Complex diabetic foot care problems, including chronic ulcers
Infections
Charcot deformities and limb salvage surgery
Post traumatic arthritis and deformities of the foot and ankle
Malunions, nonunion, deformities, and limb length discrepancy of the lower extremities
Fracture care
