Elizabeth M.N. Ferguson, MD, FACS

Originally from Minnesota, Dr. Elizabeth Nesset Ferguson has been serving the patients of Valleywise Health and the Valley as a reconstructive plastic surgeon for almost 15 years.  She received her medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School.  She completed residencies in both General Surgery and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.  She is double board certified, maintaining board certifications from both the American Board of Surgery as well as the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Her clinical practice is focused on reconstructive breast and body surgery.  She is committed to providing exceptional care to underserved communities, especially uninsured, undocumented women facing a breast cancer diagnosis.  She specializes in breast reconstruction after cancer, breast reduction, body restoration after massive weight loss and revisional breast surgery.  She is proud to be a part of the Breast Team at Valleywise which provides comprehensive care to women with or at high risk of breast cancer.

Dr. Ferguson is a master educator, dedicated to physician assistant, undergraduate and graduate medical education.  She currently serves as the Medical Director of the Physician Assistant Program and the M4 Specialty Director for Creighton University School of Medicine, Phoenix.  She is also the Director of Student Education for the Department of Surgery at Valleywise, serves as Ombudsman for both the general surgery and podiatry residencies and holds faculty appointments at Creighton University, the University of Arizona and Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University.

Dr. Ferguson is passionate about helping learners at every level find their way in medicine and surgery; and being an example of what is possible to aspiring surgeons everywhere.  She is a tireless advocate for learners, working towards improving their education and experience across the spectrum from UME to GME and in to practice.  She is a wife, a mother, a certified life coach and aspires to be a “hype girl” for all women reaching for what is next.
