The time necessary for plastic surgical procedures varies as greatly as the variety of different procedures we perform. Small, local procedures, such as removal of small skin lesions, may take as little as 15-20 minutes. More complex procedures such as repair of complex facial fractures, breast reconstruction or free tissue transfers for reconstruction, can take many hours. Your surgeon can best advise you on the amount of time your procedure will take. Please ask us.
Our surgeons work as a team. While many basic problems can be well treated by any of our team, each surgeon who their own areas of subspecialty and expertise. The clinic triage staff will schedule you with the surgeon who best fits your needs. The surgeon you initially see may refer you to another member of the team to ensure you receive the best care for your situation.
The variety of different procedures makes it impossible to give an answer that covers all procedures. Your surgeon can, and will, provide you with the information about what to expect from your procedure. In general, all surgical procedures require some time, usually measured in months, to attain the final result regarding both function and appearance. Be patient and we will help guide you through the process.
